Basic criteria for selecting press shears: containerized and side-loading presses

The main element of the processing chain in the scrap metal recycling cycle, in most production facilities, is the shear press. When choosing equipment for your company, you should carefully analyze the possibilities that each of the proposed units has, compare their technical characteristics and price indicators and stop your choice on the press shears that best meet your needs. This article will help you to determine the main selection criteria.

Aims and Objectives

The metal received for recycling is of different sizes and has different density characteristics. For its further sale or use in the secondary recycling cycle at the enterprise, it must be sorted, shredded and delivered to the final point of sale or consumption. Today's domestic market offers a wide range of shear presses, which cut different-sized scrap metal and press it into briquettes of a given density and size.

Container shears

Containerized shears are one of the types of mobile equipment designed for metal recycling in a convenient place for the owner. Their undoubted advantages include mobility (they can be moved by an average tractor) and safety - all equipment is enclosed inside a container (from where the name of the unit comes) - and therefore less susceptible to corrosion and other negative factors of external influence. Container shears do not require special foundation preparation - they can work on tamped soil or asphalted ground without destroying it and without vibrating up and down, as all movement is concentrated in the horizontal plane. Another undeniable plus of this equipment is that its work is controlled by a single operator, who can either be in the cab or use a remote mobile console.

Press shears with side underpressing

All of the above advantages are also available with the side underpress shear press. However, this machine has a significant design difference: the side shear baler has two chamber covers. Hence some differences in the working cycle: in the shear presses with side underpressing, in the first stage of processing, the raw material is pressed, i.e. it is brought into a position suitable for cutting (the machine compresses it until the initial internal cracks are formed, which facilitate the subsequent cutting force). At the second stage, the scrap metal ready for further processing is pressed, which increases the efficiency of the process many times over.

Technical characteristics of the equipment, which are worth paying attention to

One of the most important features of the plant is the shear cutting force. The largest press shears have a cutting force of 1600 tons. But for most industries, a cutting force of 500-1000 tons is sufficient. Select models with one or another value of this characteristic should be in accordance with the needs of the company.

Another important indicator of press shears is their productivity. Most semi-mobile and small devices (which include containerized shear balers) have indicators in the range from 5 to 20 tons per hour. They are recommended for production facilities with a processing rate of about 5 thousand tons per month. Press shears with side underpressing can produce 20-40 tons per hour. Accordingly, the volume of production where the shear baler is to be used should be large enough to ensure that the machine is always operating at full capacity.

Economic indicators

The model range of units presented in the domestic market is quite wide. There are press shears of both domestic and foreign assembly. Due to the rather high cost of metalworking equipment, models from the secondary market are in great demand. Taking into account the peculiarities of this area of business (metalworking equipment falls in value after the first three years of operation), many people find such savings meaningful.

However, such a price difference between new and used equipment is not accidental. There are many risks involved in buying used equipment. Heavy loads to which the moving parts of the units are subjected during operation, affect the future performance of the equipment. Buying not new metalworking equipment, in its estimated cost in addition to the cost of preventive maintenance should include the cost of anticipated repairs and replacement of some parts. Having analyzed the expected costs, most buyers opt for new equipment that will work reliably without requiring serious additional investments.

Press shears from Baltapress

The optimal investment is the purchase of equipment manufactured by Baltapress. Baltapress always has the necessary specialists and spare parts, which significantly speeds up equipment maintenance. Another advantage of working with Baltapress is the price for the supplied press shears: it is an order of magnitude lower than the prices for their European analogs while maintaining high reliability and quality. Cooperation with Baltapress allows you to specify the necessary characteristics of the order, adding or reducing the functionality of the machine in accordance with the individual needs of the customer.

Baltapress - reasonable choice - real prospects.
